Flight Review: Jet2 – Manchester to Geneva on the Boeing 757-200
This is review details my experience on a Jet2 Boeing 757-200 in February 2023. You can read my much more detailed full trip report of this flight by clicking here.
Pre-Flight Experience
Booking my Jet2 flight with the airline was quick and easy, although, like many holiday and low-cost airlines, this did involve sidestepping past a few optional extras before I was able to make a final sprint for the payment page.
Once booked, I faced no issues with managing my booking via both the carrier’s website and app, and I was able to add a range of optional extras, be they sports equipment, bags, meals or pre-selected seats. However, with the cheapest window seats costing £12, I decided against splurging out on these and hoped that the online check-in gods would allocate me a window seat.
Those flying with Jet2 can check-in from 28 days to 6 hours before departure, and with a few days to go I reopened the app in order to do this. Following a few taps, I received my boarding pass and was delighted to find that as I had hoped, I had been assigned a window seat.

Airport Experience
At the time of my flight, Jet2 operated from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Manchester, with the majority of flights, including mine, operating from the latter. Arriving at an ungodly hour, I soon spotted Jet2’s bright red check-in area, which was staffed by plenty of lively, friendly and helpful ground agents dressed in the carrier’s distinctive uniform. Once there, I asked the usual questions about where I was headed and my luggage before being guided towards the baggage tag printers. Whilst using one of the machines, the agent made friendly conversation and stood ready to assist if I needed assistance. Afterwards,I was directed towards an automated bag drop-off counter where I successfully sent my luggage into the depths of Manchester Airport. The availability of staff, lack of queues and the high levels of customer service left me incredibly impressed by Jet2’s ground experience at Manchester, so top marks!
Boarding commenced on time, and was a very orderly affair. Like check-in, plenty of staff were on hand to guide passengers and a lively agent soon wished me a good flight before I was sent down the jetbridge to the waiting Boeing 757.

Seat and Cabin
Onboard, Jet2’s Boeing 757 fleet is fitted with 235 slimline Acro seats in the usual 3-3 configuration. These are covered in either a red or silver pleather cover and come complete with a small tray table and wire cup holder, a seatback pocket and a literature compartment.

Whilst the Boeing 757 is far from a new type, I was pleased to find the interior of the aircraft to be in tip-top condition. This was bright, clean and comfortable, with any signs of wear and tear being almost entirely absent from the aircraft. Importantly, once seated I found the seat to be soft enough and reasonably spacious and I was thus left with no complaints.

Lavatories
I found the toilets to be in a good state, although admittedly this was to be expected given the fact that this was the aircraft’s first flight of the day and the load that morning was fairly light.

Inflight Entertainment
Atypical of many European holiday airlines, Jet2 is not well known for its inflight entertainment, with just the airline’s JetAway magazine provided for those looking to pass the time and not solely entertained by the novelty of flying onboard a Boeing 757! That season’s edition was a decent quality publication with the usual smorgasbord of travel and holiday-related articles interspersed by a fair number of advertisements.

Catering
Once up in the air, the buy-on-board service commenced almost immediately after the crew were released from their seats. With menus in the seatback pockets, I soon browsed the selection and generally found the range of options to be fairly standard – neither being disappointingly lacking nor impressively large. Likewise prices seemed to be very similar to those of other airlines, although I should point out that combination deals were surprisingly lacking.

Crew
Onboard, I found the crew to be warm, friendly and welcoming, taking the time to interact with passengers as they undertook their duties. Thus, I could find no reason to complain about them that day.
Summary
Without a doubt, my Jet2 flight left me with no complaints and I would gladly fly with them again. The on-ground experience was superb, the aircraft was clean, comfortable and in top condition, and the crew were warm and friendly. This was thus everything you would hope for in a holiday airline!
