Spotting Report: A Few Hours in Rainy Tokyo Haneda
Back in June 2024, I ended up with a few hours on my hands between flights at Tokyo Haneda Airport, the busiest airport in Japan. Whilst I had arrived from London and was departing to Seoul, as an aviation enthusiast, I could not resist the opportunity to sample the delights of Japan’s observation decks. As is well known, Japan is one of the most aviation enthusiast-friendly countries in the world, with open-air observation decks being a near-omnipresent feature across the country’s airports. Unfortunately, my six or so hour stay in Japan was accompanied by heavy rain showers, which, not fancying getting soaked, limited spotting opportunities to the observation deck that sits on top of Terminal 1, with this being the only open-air deck with some shelter provided. Nevertheless, despite the weather, this was proved to be a fantastic session, and I am happy that I made the trek through immigration to indulge in a visit to the observation deck!
